what to do with unpolished creativity

publish in waves

Yesterday, I posted an instagram video that sat on my computer since February.

According to the metric I cared about at the time, it’s a bad video.

It’s badly lit. The shots don’t match. It’s not visual enough.
So I shelved it to reshoot the same thing later.
But later never came.

Yesterday, the lightning bolt struck. Do it anyways.
The video is about creating with friends.
I wanted it to be a gateway to creating more with friends.

I threw it online and wrote that as a caption—let’s make the next one together.

I used to get 50,000+ views on videos.
This one couldn’t hit 2,000.

But it got eleven comments from friends saying, “I’m in.”

The video was always about the friends I made along the way.
I just forgot.

I can’t imagine where I’d end up if I started in February, but I won’t have to imagine where I’d end up if I started in August.

If you are feeling a creative tug, do the thing.
Post the crap.

And if you live in LA - come to my final public speaker workshop (Wednesday the 20th at 6pm in Venice) where we’ll build out a content strategy for you, and connect you with a group of people to push each other.

Let’s get it dawgs,
O

And now, a work from our sponsor. I have one of these cans in my kitchen. It tastes good.
