The International Listening Association
It has existed for 46 years
I’ve spent the last three days at the International Listening Association conference.
And boy am I blown away.
Most of the people here are PhDs and doctors who are presenting on listening in specific contexts, with a depth of data and research that blows my mind that it even exists.
I’ve heard it said that if you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room… well, I am in the right room then, because I feel like a neanderthal here.
And yet, many of these listening pros admire that I am able to spread a message through media, to connect with young audiences, and that I even came here in the first place.
It’s a warm community full of patient, caring people sharing the lessons they are learning and discovering with each other. It’s fascinating to see the professors who are presenting studies, citing each other’s research in their reports. Fun to listen to doctors use doctor words too.
If you’re deeply fascinated by listening, the International Listening Association is always accepting new members.
