The efficiency of road bikes
A group of bikers is called a peloton.
The person at the center of the peloton only uses 10% of the energy of the person in the front. The leader breaks the wind barrier and whatnot while the middle enjoys a lesser load.
This is why biker groups rotate during races.
Community dynamics are no different.
If five people reach out to check in on you during a hard period, each of them will have to carry less load.
If one person checks in on you, “Hey, I’m thinking about you,” might fall flat.
If ten people send the same text, you will feel loved.
That “hey” text is 10% effort.
100% is showing up at your doorstep with a home-cooked meal.
60% is giving you a phone call.
As a helper, enable your community to give 10% to those in need.
They mustn’t forget the power of community.
