Smalls Steps vs Big Steps
+ Day 1 of the International Listening Convention
Yesterday, I got to announce that I’m an ambassador for the Foundation for Social Connection. It’s a small honor. Or a big one. How does one determine size of accomplishment?

I also received a contract for my biggest speaking event yet, at a university that I can’t yet mention.
Are these big steps or small steps?
Last week, I missed a few emails.
This is supposed to be a daily email about listening tips, but it has turned into a little bit more of a blog about the things I think about. Writing every day is a small step for me, but writing every day without missing a day (like I did several days last week) was the agreement.
So we continue.
Whether big steps or small steps or missteps are the most important, all I know is that I can keep moving forward. I hope you feel encouraged to do the same, too.
Last email, I decided no longer to give my pain a voice.
Last week, I decided to start daily meditating.
The week before, I decided to start praying daily.
The month before, I decided to take control of my eating.
I’ve now learned what foods make me feel like crap.
The year before, I decided to swim regularly.
I’m 30 pounds below the weight I was when I started.
A friend of mine shared that the rituals we have create the people we are.
The big project will come. For now, the goal is small, consistent rituals.
