Nick Jonas's weird bedroom rule
beds are for sleeping
The best rules keep us hurtling in the direction we want to go.
Rather than the direction we’ll pull ourselves in.
For me, a problematic eater, I don’t keep snacks in the house.
I have much more control at the store, so I make my choice of food upstream of my bad decisions.
When I’m compelled to stress eat, all I have is fruit and whole foods.
(although I curse my roommate for collecting a bunch of halloween candy and leaving it out)

The singer-songwriter Nick Jonas recently revealed an extreme life rule that I’ve been inching my way towards trying:
Bed is for sleeping (and snuggling) and that’s it.
No phones. No computers. No books. No TV. No journaling. Nada.
His commitment to the purity of the space allows him to fully embody the moment.
My commitment to the purity of my pantry keeps me from ballooning to an unhealthy weight.
As we approach 2026, consider what higher level rules will prevent you from messing up lower level decisions.
More on rules tomorrow. Why not explore the copying between Jesse Itzler’s video about 3 rules in life and Taylor Stokes’ video about 3 rules in life.
Spoiler: They’re the exact same rules. Almost verbatim, yet Taylor doesn’t mention Jesse at all. So why does Jesse comment, “Love this!” on her post?
Stay tuned for next time to find out.
Finally, a quote from basketball superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo after a recent game-winner that might inspire you:
“You can live if you miss. You cannot live (with yourself) if you don’t shoot it. I’ve been in that position many times. Sometimes I’ve missed, sometimes I’ve (made it). People don’t remember the times you miss, they remember all the times you make.”
Time to get out of bed,
Orly
