Mother's Day never ends
5 questions to ask her (before you can't)
We don't get forever.
On Saturday, I met someone from Ohio at a Call Your Fam event (use code: Orly for discount btw). He loved LA, but one thing stuck with him,
“If I see my parents once a year, I probably won’t see them more than 30 more times in my life.”
In February, my cousin said something similar but worse, “This may be the last time I see grandma and pop-pop.”
Not to be dramatic, but we treat our relationships like we have infinite time. We don’t. So here's a nudge.
Next time you're talking with your mom (or the mom-esque figure), try asking one of these:
What’s something you wish you had asked your own mom?
When did you feel most yourself in your life?
What’s one decision you’re really proud of?
What was your idea of love when you were younger? How has it changed?
What’s something you’ve never said out loud before, but wouldn’t mind sharing?
You don’t have to ask all five. Just one. And listen like it’s a gift.
We don’t get forever. But we do get this moment.
