How to give more talks, speeches, workshops

Keep doing them.

Every day I attempt to bless myself with the thought that I have something valuable to say.
Most days, I’m not sure whether or not I do.

Here’s how the cycle goes:

Internal: The speech isn’t good enough.
Internal: The lesson isn’t meaningful.
Internal: I’m asking people to do too much.
Internal: The payoff isn’t clear enough.
Internal: I haven’t made it yet, so how can I talk about it?

Detrimental self-talk, only a few people I know seem immune to it.
One day, I’ll be one of them.
Until then, I’m okay sharing the voice in my head.

Because here’s how the cycle continues.

Someone else: Can you give a speech at whatever time and place.
Me, aloud: Happy to.
Internal detrimental parade continues.
Me: Delivers speech & workshop.

Someone else: That was amazing.
Someone else: *wipes tears away* That was so beautiful
Someone else: Thank you, I’m inspired to start reaching out to friends again
Someone else: I’m going to start a listening table.

Internal: All right.
Internal: The next speech will be better.
Internal: But that wasn’t so bad.

Repeat 50 times.
Repeat 100 times.

Does the voice ever stop?

Keep playing. Tell your story.
There’s light on the other side.
