There’s a rich old man who lives at the bottom of a steep hill in my neighborhood. He sits on his porch all day and tells the most incredible stories you’ve ever heard to anyone who asks. I’ve never seen his porch empty and yet there has always been a seat for me whenever I stop by, which is often because his hill is so fun to skate down.
I’ll sit on his porch for hours at a time, listening in on whatever story he’s telling. He’s met every celebrity you can name, made more money in more businesses than I can remember, and still has the wherewithal to remember my name and rock his chair with excitement when I cruise up.
Although he he’s never kicked me out, I regularly stay longer than I planned because the walk back up his hill repulses me as much as getting into rush hour traffic.
And thus ends the metaphor for social media for today.
